Future of EU defence discussed by MEPs

On 26 February 2013, Lieutenant General Ton Van Osch, Director General of the EU Military Staff, exchanged views with MEPs from the EP security and defence subcommittee on the future of European Defence. General Van Osch warned MEPs over further cuts to defence budgets and called for further cooperation among EU member states on defence matters. |
European global strategy

On 22 February 2013, MEPs and MPs from national parliaments discussed with the Swedish and Polish foreign ministers, Carl Bildt and Radosław Sikorski, a "...European global strategy, which should help frame a clearer mandate for the EU foreign policy chief. The initiative, launched by the foreign ministers of Italy, Poland, Spain and Sweden, will also feed into the discussion on defence by EU heads of state and government at their December summit". |
