For the second time EUROMIL and its member unions and associations added the voice of military personnel to the Euro-demonstration "No to Austerity - For Social Europe, for Fair Pay and for Jobs". On Saturday, 9 April 2011, EUROMIL joined the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC) and its six Hungarian member organisations, ASzSz, LIGA, MOSz, MszOSz, SZEF and ESZT in Budapest. The last time EUROMIL held up its flag for European workers in September 2010 at the Euro-demonstration in Brussels.

The first stage of the redesign of our website has finally been completed and the new updated site is up and running.

Many improvements have been made to the site so finding what you need to know about EUROMIL should be quick and easy.

The website has been re-launched with a new look, new content, and significant layout updates for maximum information gathering with minimum effort.

• The new home-page will inform you on relevant current news and of course EUROMIL’s own activities.
• The website features a new “about EUROMIL” section, including an interactive map - showing our 38 member associations - and answers to frequently asked questions (FAQ), to describe EUROMIL and what we do.
• In the press room, the media and interested people can find our latest press releases, information on our board members and a picture gallery of our events and activities.

The Future European Security and Defence Architecture – a challenge for the EU and NATO
EUROMIL participates at 9th Congress on European Security and Defence, Berlin, Germany

EUROMIL attended the 9th Congress on European Security and Defence in Berlin on 08-10 November 2010 to discuss the future challenges for EU and NATO. The Berlin Security Conference is the biggest event dealing with European Security and Defence in Germany.

EUROMIL held its 102nd Presidium Meeting on 29-30 October 2010 at the European Trade Union House

EUROMIL President Emmanuel Jacob opened the 102nd Presidium Meeting with a speech acknowledging that “in an age of austerity, it is not realistic to simply demand the best of everything, and lots of it, without considering the financial implications […] It is, however, the task of representatives of soldiers to ensure that the standard is set as high as possible, and that soldiers will never be called upon to perform operations for which, they are neither equipped nor trained”.

In a meeting with members of the Spanish parliament on 4 October 2010 in Madrid, the case for the right of association was introduced. The meeting was inaugurated by the President of EUROMIL, Emmanuel Jacob, who spoke about the social and professional conditions for European soldiers, before handing over to the Presidetn of the United Association of Spanish Military Personnel (AUME), Jorge Bravo Álvarez. He commented more exhaustively on the current national situation. In the subsequent question-and-answer session, several parliamentarians took to the floor, and a lively debate ensured.
